Alvin (Al) Henderson, LMSW
Meet Alvin Henderson, LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker). Alvin grew up on the west side of Chicago, Illinois, where he witnessed the impact of violent conditions, socioeconomic inequities and systemic racism. Alvin grew up in a community where widespread family and individual trauma was common. This experience became the inspiration to Alvin's pursuit to be a part of a helping profession, with a desire to help people heal.
As a Black man and dedicated therapist, Alvin has a special interest in helping black men navigate life’s challenges while guiding them to emotional recovery. By understanding the stigma attached to masculinity and mental health, particularly in the black community, Alvin creates a non-judgmental space to help individuals process their pain while collaborating to develop a strong approach to building a healthier future.
Alvin is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and has over 20 years experience working in the criminal justice system. Alvin supports clients dealing with issues such as anxiety, trauma, relationships, fatherhood, substance misuse, legal issues, and self-worth.
